The original Hewitt Presbyterian Church was built in 1871 on farm property donated by Mr. Adam Hewitt Sr. It was through the efforts of Rev. J.S. Gibson, the pastor at the time that the church was completed. Sadly, in 1910, a fire destroyed that white frame building.
Plans for the current brick building were begun in 1907 and completed in 1909. Three stained-glass windows and beloved memorials beautify Hewitt Presbyterian Church both inside and outside still today.
Members of Hewitt Presbyterian Church graciously welcomed the new members of Jefferson Presbyterian Church at a special service and picnic held on July 25, 2010. The two congregations having been previously yoked, have blended well and enjoy worshipping and working together as the Hewitt Presbyterian Church family.
Today and through the years, from its beginnings in the late nineteenth century, Hewitt Presbyterian Church has continued faithfully in its goal to:
Affirm our oneness in Jesus Christ.
Share our Spiritual gifts.
Strengthen Christian values and family as we worship God and serve our community.
